Privacy policy
Short version: your files never leave your computer, and we do not ask for an account. The detail below explains exactly what that means and what little data does exist.

Your files
Every tool on this site processes files inside your own browser using WebAssembly. The file you select is read from your disk by the browser and held in the memory of that browser tab. It is not transmitted to us or to anyone else at any point.
We therefore do not store your files, cannot access them, cannot recover them and could not hand them to a third party even if compelled to. When you close or reload the tab, the file is gone from memory.
You can verify this yourself: load any tool page, disconnect from the internet, and the conversion will still complete.
What we do collect
Nothing you type or upload. We operate no accounts, no sign-up, no newsletter and no comment system.
Our hosting provider automatically records standard server request information — IP address, timestamp, requested page, browser user-agent — for a limited period as part of delivering and protecting the site. This is ordinary web infrastructure logging, not analytics we control.
If you have arrived from an advertisement, the advertising platform may record that click on its own systems under its own policy. We do not receive your identity from it.
Local storage on your device
The site stores exactly one value in your browser's local storage: your choice of light or dark theme, saved under the key "theme". It exists so the site does not flash the wrong colours on your next visit.
This is a functional preference, it contains nothing that identifies you, it is never transmitted, and clearing your browser data removes it. We set no advertising or tracking cookies.
Third-party resources
Two external resources load on tool pages: a WebAssembly build of FFmpeg from a public package CDN, and web fonts from Google Fonts. Requesting these means your browser contacts those providers, which will see your IP address in the ordinary course of serving a file.
Neither request includes anything about your file, your conversion or your activity on the site.
Your rights
Where privacy law such as the GDPR applies, you have rights of access, correction, deletion, restriction and objection regarding personal data held about you.
In practice we hold almost nothing to act on, but if you believe we hold data about you and want it addressed, write to support@clipstool.com and we will respond within thirty days.
You may also complain to your national data protection authority.
Changes
If this policy changes materially, the revised version will be published on this page. Continued use after that constitutes acceptance.
